Perle de rose' - Gourmet Galaxy Wine of the Week

"A fresh and balanced rosé from younger vines. A delightfully fruity palate filled with mango and grapefruit."
As the weather warms and we can actually think about enjoying Florida's sunshine outdoors, this wine is a perfect pairing for Franny's crabcakes for a lunch out on the deck, dock, or patio.

Gourmet Galaxy Wine of Week


Our wine of week recommendation is our favorite white from the fall tastings we attended: Turnbull 2009 Sauvignon Blanc, Estate Grown, Oakville, Napa Valley. "The wine is crisp and lively, with medium body and a long lasting finish." We found this to be a most pleasant return to Sauvignon Blanc that is not over-the-top in sweetness and fruit like the popular versions of this staple have become over recent years.  $216/case

Today's Tasting Notes from Gourmet Galaxy

Mayacamas '02 Chard from the top rack in back was pulled and popped today. Had four in stock and wasn't sure if it had rested well for the past six years. Boy, were we wrong! This one is still going strong, truly tasty and still true to the unique styling for which the vineyard is known. Made a note to try again in two years (w/ oak wood grilled chicken breast w/ a heavy cream sauce over couscous perhaps!), if these kids are not adopted by then.
